After his much-publicized exit from competition in Michigan three weeks ago, John McCain's electoral math is getting increasingly hazy. CNN reported this morning that he is pulling out of Colorado. According to Political Wire, his advisors now see Iowa and New Mexico as well as "no longer winnable".
As this stands, Florida, Nevada, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, and Missouri remain tossups. In order to become President, McCain will have to carry at least six of the eight and more likely seven or eight of them. This becomes even more of a challenge when you consider that Obama is up in every single one of these states and by double digits in Pennsylvania. Without Pennsylvania, it is mathematically impossible for McCain to win in this scenario, not to mention that Obama is drastically outspending McCain.
The numbers give me hope.
