Why an organization like The Sunshine Press is so important is because it keeps the institutional powers in check by showing us what war is. If there was more transparency in war, America might not be at war.
Here is Glenn Greenwald on the subject. It is much more in depth and comprehensive; if there is a point I didn't address in my short post, he addresses with lots of evidence: (my favorite piece I've read since the video was released).
Update - Evidence of the commonality of this incident

This isn't just morally wrong, but it hinders our efforts overseas. Think about it: the Israelis were criticized for attacking civilian areas using aircraft, and now video footage proves that the US does it as well. Our war for hearts and minds can't be won with bullets - at least, not with where they're ending up right now.
@WashDC
The point being that there's nowhere else to put bullets in right now.
The "war on terror" concept itself implies that main targets are hiding among civilians...
I just can't think of other possible military targets...
And as I perfectly agree with you about the purpose of this war, wich is not to conquer land, but minds...
I recently read -in a french paper, i'm searching for the article right now- that our quite useless french army won a major victory in a Kabul. "Trading" extra-humanitarian aid for the ending of assistance to the Taliban by the civilians...
It actually worked...
We still have our economies to fight with...Might not work at any time, but surely won't kill civilians...
@ Titouan Lemoine,
Enemies among civilians are always the most difficult to root out, and there's an extremely delicate balance between the humanitarian and military objectives. Not enough military vigilance, and humanitarian aid will be lost. Hyper-vigilance, on the other hand, kills the civilians that we aim to save. No sane person will buy into the idea that we can destroy a town in order to save it.
At the same time, there are many conflicts involving conventional enemies that we could - and should - focus on. Sudan is using its forces to cause harm to the civilian people of Darfur. Just think, we could be doing some real good there.
We owe Iraq for alot of pain and suffering, and much like our fiscal situation, we are morally in debt. The reason we're failing is because we can't "pay it off," so to speak.
