NY Times: Kim Jong Il Said to Have Appeared in Public

The operative word here being "said". I am personally unsure about whether he is still alive. He is certainly not the picture of health.

After declaring that it would end its nuclear program last month, North Korea suddenly turned around and threw out the inspectors. Clearly they are at it again. Around that time, Kim Jong Il was speculated to have had a stroke. Does this reflect a rash change of mind or does it alert us to a new head honcho?
