Many people pointed out after Tuesday's debate that John McCain's incessant use of "my friends" in addressing the audience created an atmosphere of insincerity and sullen sycophancy. This appears to have become one of McCain's new catchphrases. I quote from his last campaign email:
My Friends,
During Tuesday's town hall debate in Nashville, I told a retired Navy chief in the audience that everything I ever learned about leadership I learned from a chief petty officer in the Navy. My career in the United States Navy has had a lasting impact on my life and the lessons I learned continue to guide me today.Just pointing this out...
