Polling Update

On Saturday Nevada will hold its caucuses for both parties, and South Carolina will hold its Republican primary. The latter is extremely important: Since 1980 the Republican candidate has won South Carolina. Here are some of the polls there:

MSNBC/McClatchy: McCain 25%, Huckabee 23%, Romney 15%, Thompson 13%.
American Research Group: McCain 33%, Huckabee 23%, Romney 20%, Thompson 13%. The poll also shows Obama edging Clinton 44% to 38%.
InsiderAdvantage: Obama 41%, Clinton 31%, Edwards 13%
Public Policy Polling: McCain 28%, Huckabee 20%, Romney 18%, Thompson 17%
Clemson: McCain 29%, Huckabee 22%, Romney 13%, Thompson 10%

Political Wire got an advance on a poll showing Romney up by 15 and Clinton up by 10 in Nevada.

In other news, Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) has endorsed Barack Obama for President. Leahy is chair of the judiciary committee.
